How many sessions will I need to attend at East Sydney Psychologists?

Everyone's situation and needs are unique, and so are the treatment plans applied to address those needs. Your psychologist will determine the number of therapy sessions you will require through a collaborative assessment of your concerns and goals, as well as the appropriate treatments that may help.

After your first counselling session with your psychologist, they will discuss with you the number of sessions that may be needed for you to achieve your goals. This treatment plan could involve short-term therapy, or you may require longer, ongoing treatment. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions are possible, depending on your situation.

If you have concerns regarding time or finances, we can work together to find a solution-focused approach, breaking your therapy into stages. Please contact us if you would like more information.

Will my sessions be confidential?

Yes, your sessions and the discussions within them will be kept private and confidential. Exceptions to this are given when under direction from a court of law, if there is an immediate risk to an individual's welfare and safety or when discussing a referred Mental Health Care Plan with your GP.

What are your fees?

East Sydney Psychologists is a fee-paying clinic. We do not bulk bill. We can process Medicare rebates for you. Fees are payable on the day via EFT, Visa or MasterCard only.

Please feel free to contact us to discuss our schedule of fees and rebates.

Can I claim the Mental Health Care Plan and Medicare rebate?

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician, then you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate of between $87.45 and $128.40 per session. The refund will apply for up to 10 face-to-face sessions per calendar year. You will need to pay the full fee for the session, and then we can process the rebate for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

At East Sydney Psychologists, we require at least 48 hours' notice to change or cancel appointments or a cancellation fee will be charged. The cancellation fee is 100% of the full appointment fee for less than 24 hours' notice or 50% of the full fee for less than 48 hours. Medicare does not cover cancelled appointments.

What are your payment terms?

We accept cash, EFTPOS, Mastercard & Visa.
Please note that you will need to make a payment on the day of your session, except for approved Work Cover and CTP claims, where the insurer is billed directly.
